Paterson 1960-1968
As a son of a master stained glass window painter the artist was influenced at an early age by various visual media including oil painting. Through observation of a broad spectrum of art and stained glass history there developed a unique foundation from which he later drew
symbols and images. The light and architecture of the east coast region were influential factors as can be seen in the early paintings shown below.
As an English major in college he experimented outside of school with glass, wood, metal and paint until he met a professor who introduced him to abstract painting. His resulting body of work provided the basis for admission to the Masters Program in Art at New York University.
